Show SOCIALISM CRIPPLES STATE The leaders of the Non-Partlsan League, who swept North Dakota with their Socialistic program of state ownership and control of industries, indus-tries, promised wonderful results. Among other things, they claimed that the North 'Dakota farmer would be made independent of outside influences in-fluences and the "beasts that prey" (referring to most all other business busi-ness ) . The League has now been In control con-trol of the state for several years, and it might enlighten the public at this time as to why there have been more bank failures recently in North Dakota than in any other state in the Union. Why Is it that a three million dollar Issue of North Dakota gold bonds, offered in Chicago, has failed to entice investors, despite the fact that the securities are offered to yield 5 per cent and are exempt from Federal income tax, including surtax? North Dakota is paying the penalty penal-ty for allowing itself to be "Socialized" "Social-ized" by a lot of "near-Red" leaders. There are too many agitators and theoretical politicians who would plunge the United States government into a similar Socialistic program if they had the opportunity. Nor can a communistic principle too fully adhered ad-hered to in any business be success.-ful success.-ful in this decade whether on farm products or other commodities. |
