Show Sutherland Searchlights The South Tract and Sutherland base ball team crossed bats on the Sutherland grounds last Saturday the score 1 0 to 14 in favor of Sutherland, who won the game in spite of their crack pitcher not present with Walker in the box and Lisonbee behind the bat. Mrs. W. R. Walker spent last week visiting in Leamming-ton. Leamming-ton. Ross Simpkins and family are home again after a visit with their home folks. He says. Del-, ta country looks the best yet of anything he has seen. Charles Simpkins and family have gone to Circleville on a visit. vis-it. Mr. A. Ackerman has resigned his job as water master and gone Fish Lake for an outing. We will no doubt miss the very effective service Mr. Ackerman has given the people in this capacity, but think the position will be filled satisfactorily by G. I. Smith who has taken his place. Several sub water masters have also quit and their places been refilled. BORN:-To Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Steel a fine baby girl. All concerned doing nicely except the father who groans at the idea of another girl. Mrs. Cal Jones is visiting in Oasis. Miss Louisa Jones is staying with her brother and looking after the boarders. Mrs. Edwards will leave for her home in Gunnison after a few days visit at her husbands property proper-ty here. Mr. J. H. Edward and wife and family will remain here and make their home. Grandma Robinson is visiting at the home of her grandson Mr. Ward Robinson. We are pleaseed to have her smiling face with us. Haying and beet thinning is the order of the day now. The hay crop is very light compared with other years due to late frosts and cold summer. Mrs. Burt Johnson is slowly recovering from a severe illness. Her mother and sister of Aurora are here visiting with her. Mr. Johnson having met them in Scipio and brought them over lastSunday. Mr. Frank Broadman has gone to Chicago to work, after spending spend-ing several weeks with his brother broth-er George. Mrs. J. N. Smith entertained the Jolly Stichers very nicely last week. Mrs. Shersck of Abraham was guest of Mrs. Smith during Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday. Tuesday, June 22, the Y. M. and Y. L. M. I. A. of Sutherland will give a party at the school house. There will be dancing in one room and much merry entertainment en-tertainment in the other. Ice cream will be served free to all. The party is for the purpose of starting a library, and we would like your support. Bring 15 or 25 cents for a ticket. Abbott-Theobald: We are happy hap-py to announce that Leon Abbott of Sutherland and Miss Nettie Theobald of Hinckley, made a journey to Fillmore the 15th where they were married. |
