Show Notes by an Observer. It Is strange that It Is so hard to s;e a fault where it Is our own. Probably the merchants are partly responsible for, high prices, but we people are per haps also to blame. If we plan our affairs af-fairs in such a way that we pay our bills once a year when the fall crops come In and run a credit account at the stores all winter, we must expect merchants can get Interest on their money which is tied up on our account. The worst of It is that even the man who pays cash must suffer from high' prices, because his neighbors are poor managers and run up big bills. Why not make a heroic effort one year to get even, and then lay aside in the bunk enough for the winter. It is as easy to pay for things first as last. If only we get started that way. a a a Anyone who is really thoughtful knows that the wise man is modest, slow to express a positive opinion, and always ready to learn something new. The narrow. Ignorant man betrays his limitations by the very cock-sureness of his opinions. a a a The question of better music would soon be solved If there were more good J listeners. Musicians constantly com plain that people do not cure to hear their best music, and want nothing but l old familiar melodies or new Jlngleg t thnt tickle the ear. If we would listen ' attentively with heart and mind the best music, though strange at first. I would soon become familiar to us and we could not then be satisfied with cheap, poor music. |
