Show IN AND AROUND DELTA lb Week's News from the Cezisa Metropolis ' i The seven months old baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. John Steele died last Friday morning from capillary bronchitis bron-chitis following an attack of measles. The funeral occurred on Sunday, All the family has beeu suffering from measles, and Mrs. Steele waa In a cilllcal condition for some time, but Is now lu a fair way to recovery. The -chlldien have also nearly recovered. President Moody and Manager Snow spent several days In Delta last week. A few weeks ago Mrs. H. F. Aller was called to Celina, Ohio, by the Illness Ill-ness of her mother. Mr. Aller has .received word that she has been tied up by the floods that have been raging in thut state. While Cellna was not lu the direct path of the flood the washing out ot bridges and damage to railways prevented ber return as expected. What with tornadoes and floods the people will be looking for homes where such calamities never occur, and we can recommend Millard county as absolutely free from all such visitations. James II. Faust has named bis farm Sleepy Hollow. We don't know whether wheth-er that Is an appropriate name or not. We have never observed anything sleepy about Mr. Faust and we did not think there was a big enough hollow In this country io bury a horse. Albert Watts has given bis place on the north aide the name of Pioneer Fa$i. While there were some pioneers In this country coun-try before Mr. Watt's arrival, he was one of the first comers to the north tract. Somerset Farm is the name of J. fc. Edward's place. A big sign on N. S. Bishop's farm tells the passerby that It Is Waiora t Ranch, which signifies running water. The regular monthly meeting of the Water Users' Association will be held next Saturday evening In the west side school houso and a full attendance is requested. Jenkins Bros, have taken lumber stud other material over on the west aide and have begun the conduction or a store building near Jerome Tracy's. The building will be about 18x30 feet la size. Bishop F. 8. Spalding of Salt Lake will hold services at the Presbyterian chapel on Wednesday evening, April ICth. Geo. E. Boardman has just completed a bouse for himself on the west side northwest of the brick school boune. P. C. Boel is hauling lumber for his new house near by. The Delta RelW Society will bold Its poxtponed entertainment this Thursday evening. An Interesting program pro-gram will be rendered In the forenoon, lunch will be served at 2 o'clock and in the evening a dance will be held. II. 11. Holdredge has given the name cf Fairscres to bis farm on the west aide. A. L. Simons has named his place Crencent Farm, as it lies in the circle of the low bills along the river, and Mrs. Wallace Clark was so much struck with the beaufy of the sunsets as seen from her west door that she has given the niue of Sunset Farm to their place. At a meeting of the committee on sugar beets held last Sunday it was decided to order 600 pounds of beet eed and the drill from the compsny. They will be delivered to John Steele who will have charge of the disposal of the. seed. But little additional acreage acre-age was promised above that signed for at the meeting two weeks ago. The Delta Co. hss agreed to cancel payments on water contracts for the amount of land any of the settlers contrlbuate for road allowance on the new county road to be laid out on the north side. The warm spring days of the psst week have been most favorable for the farmers and nesrly everybody has been plowing. There will be a much larger acreage planted this year than last aud every one Is determined to get their crops In early so there will not be a repetition of last year's failures which were occasioned almost entirely by late planting and watering and con .tinulng to Irrigate too lste In the sea on. |
