The many friends of Mrs. Mat-tie Mat-tie Bliss who was taken the the hospital Friday evening to undergo under-go an operation for appendicitis hope for a speedy recovery. A party was given in the Petty hall on Wednesday evening in honor of R. L. Woodward, the retiring principal of schopjs. Games, dancing and refreshments, refresh-ments, consisting of ice cream and cake, made the hours fly. The writer should like to describe de-scribe a feast of strawberries a la Beckwith, but cant keep his mind off the delightful fruit long enough to concentrate itself to the task. The smell of apple blossoms helps to demoralize any attempt at classic? composition. The game between Abraham and Deseret .' was progressing nicely and had become rather exciting ex-citing in the third inning, when an accident occurred and put an end to the game. Albert Reed, the Abraham catcher, and the man running in from third base collided in trying to reach the home plate. Mr. Reed the light-ter light-ter man, fell heavily and was rendered ren-dered unconscious for a few minutes. min-utes. Fearing that his injuries were serious he was taken immediately im-mediately to the doctor's office at Hinckley. At last report he was out of danger, tho still weak. The game was postponed until the next day, as the boys had no heart to play after the accident. The boys try to play a good clean game and regret exceedingly that this affair happened. Deseret Doings. Arthur Cahoon left this morning mor-ning for Holden, to purchase a load of grain. Prof. Chas. Maw of the B. Y. U. at Provo, occupied the time at the L. D. S. Chapel here Sunday Sun-day afternoon. In spite of the heavy rain which kept away some of the participants, the cantata given at the A. C. Nelson was a decided success. , . Farm Demonstrator Welch, lectured to our local farmers this afternoon at 2:00 p. m. on diseased potatoes and how to overcome over-come the disease. The class of '15 gave their graduating exercises and dance Friday evening. The program was well rendered and a large crowd danced until the wee small hours.
