Show MILLARD COUNTY FINANCES. The editor recently obtained Hume figures from Treasurer Cooper, showing show-ing that Millard County is In excellent excel-lent shape financially. This was not always the case. In Huia the county had no money to pay Its warrants after January. In 19u4 It run out of cash by June. In ISMi.'i It caught up and has had cash to meet its obligations obli-gations ever since. Tim assessed valuation of the county coun-ty In 1910 was $2,313..104. The tax levy for all purposes for that year was $ti0,ono, of which ' the railway paid approximately $25,000. The entire en-tire amount of this has been collected with the exception of about $.',00. chiefly wrong assessments, which shows with what care the assessment assess-ment and collection has been done. About $.",ooo of the taxes for last year went for the public schools. The balance In the treasury on last January Jan-uary was about $3,000, a rather small er amount than usual owing to the extra expense entailed on account of the floods on the west side during the previous summer. Treasurer Cooiht enjoys the entire confidence of the people of Millard County as was shown by his reelection re-election to the office last fall by a large majority. ' |
