Show Married in Hinckley Miss Mildren Keele, daughter of Mr. Fenton Keele, of Tooele and Pvt. Vaughn Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Allen, of Hinkcley, were married at the Allen home Monday evening. Bishop Verdell Bishop performed per-formed the marriage ceremony. The young couple are both graduates of the Hinckley High School. Mrs. Allen is now living in Tooele with her father, and Vaughn is in the service and home on leave at present. pres-ent. The young couple will be honored honor-ed at a dance in the high school gym Monday evening. The public has been invited. Rodney Peterson, son of M-S John L. Peterson writes from the So. Pacific: "Here I am trying to answer your letters with my fi.,ger I bandaged up. I've seen action in the Philippines, and got a few Jap souvenirs to send home (some i postcard pictures of airplanes, with Rising Sun emblem, ships, and some Japanese currency). We got a Jap dive bomber to our credit while there. There were plenty of bombs dropping not far from our ship, but none hit us. Many a night I've spent looking and listening listen-ing for Jap planes, and watching bombs hit and explode I've really had some thrills. I've crossed the equator five times. I got some more Chronicles today it's great to get home news. We've got two Japanese planes to our credit a dive bomber and a torpedo plane." Lt (JG) Dale F. Johnson has been transferred from the Atlantic area to the Pacific, and now has his duties in that area. |
