Show N3'y Hero Returns; Claims Bride Ens. Max V. Eliason, U.S. N., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim J. Eliason of Deseret, returned home last week for a short leave from the European War, where he has been on active duty for the past year. He visited in Deseret with his folks and friends for three days then returned re-turned to Salt Lake, where he was married Tuesday morning in the Salt Lake Temple to Miss. Marjorie Howe of Murray. Ensign Eliason received recognition recogni-tion for his part in the troop landings land-ings of the battle of Normandy and again at the invasion of Southern France. His landing craft was one to take in the first wave of assault troops at "H" hour on the day of the invasion of Normandy, Norman-dy, and with his craft unloaded larger transports on to the beaches of Normandy, while under constant fire. Other important landings in which he was engaged included the invasion of Southern France, landings in Naples, Oran and Marseille. Mar-seille. After a large reception in their honor in Salt Lake the young Na-1 val officer and his bride left for a ! New York honeymoon, from which place Ensign Eliason will resume his duties on an over seas assignment. |
