Show Attends Rites. . . Mrs. J. H. Snow went to Salt Lake City Saturday to attend the memorial services for Capt. J. S. Alley, who was killed in a plane crash in India. Capt. Alley is the only brother of Mrs. Paul Snow. Harold Snow accompanied his mother to Salt Lake City and they both returned Monday morning. g, Lt. Clair Porter left Wednesday after spending his furlough here visiting his parents M-S Leslie Porter. Por-ter. They received a letter from their other son, Kenneth, who is in Italy with the air squadron. He has been promoted to staff sergeant. ser-geant. This is Kenneth's second promotion since his arrival in Italy. It-aly. Dulbert Bradfield, son of M-S Dell Bradfield of Leamington has been promoted to Sargent and instructor in-structor of Paratrooper Jumping. He is stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. His wife Doris Bradfield and 2 children are joining him there. The Salt Lake Tribune had an article in from Logan this week in which it told of the promotion of three Hall brothers. Dick Hall was promoted to first lieutenant; Nelson Nel-son Hall promoted to technical sergeant; ser-geant; and Ellis Hall promoted to private first class. They are the sons of Mrs. J. W. Hall of Logan, Utah. According to Mrs. J. B. Walker, Wal-ker, the children were all born in Sutherland about 17 years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Hall were residents resi-dents of that district. William Kozina, Pfc, has written from Belgium to his brother John Kozina; among other things in his letter he says, "I am getting along all right and have been cutting hair today. It is getting winter here now. We see and hear the flying bombs go over once in a while. They sound like a big Diesel Die-sel tractor up in the sky (he is talking of the robot bombs, so dreaded in England)." Bill is with thrlank forces, in the thick of the fV' l'n Belgium. yh M1. Gerald B. Huff is spending a few days with his wife and son. He just returned from transport duty in the European theater. He will leave far the Eact Coast after his furlough and then go overseas again. Pvt. Lawrence Hilton returned this week to South Carolina after spending his furlough here. Corp. Fay Greener who has been transferred from California t o Tooele came down for Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing with his. mother Mrs. Lillis Greener. Edward Woodbury son of M-S Wallace Woodbury enlisted in the Navy and left Saturday morning. Before leaving he was honored with a party by the Sea Scout troop at their scout room Wednesday Wednes-day evening after the dance. After a short program refreshments were enjoyed by 40 people. Ed was presented pre-sented a gift from the scout troop and then the fifth service flag was hung by their scout emblem. Pvt. Vaughn Allen, son of M-S Rex Allen who has been in Kansas is home on furlough. Tuesdav night in Mutual he was presented a gift from the Ward by Bishop Verdell Bishop. |
