United States Naval Reserve for services as set forth in the j following CITATION As a member of the ship's company com-pany during tiie grueling end extended ex-tended hvo Jima Campaign. 19 February to 6 March 19-15. in which this vessel was frequently under fire, was required to be in a constant con-stant state of readiness for air attack, and was charged with the responsibility of landing troops and cargo through heavy seas and surf ; over an insecure beach consistently consistent-ly under enemy fire, calling for the utmost in effort and loyalty from the members of this command, he j performed his duties in a gallant and outstanding manner.
