Show Will Open Drive ! For Funds to Combat Cancer During April a drive will be launched in Utah to obtain funds with which to combat carreer. U-;tah U-;tah has a quota of $30,0(10, and the nation's goal is $5,000,000. The local lo-cal drive has been organized with Vera Hilton, county captain; Inez Moody, deputy captain. Melba Crafts, secertary and treasurer. Wanda Beckwith, publicity chairman; chair-man; D. J. E. Stains, medical advisor; ad-visor; Miss Shirley Harris, surgical dressing chairman. Through an Act of Congress the enlistment fee will be $1 and the funds so raised will be divided 75 per cent for use in Utah, and 25 Jcent for national use. Utah's funds (will be divided into three groups, , first, educational second, service 1 and care for unfortunate sufferers from cancer; and third, research. .National funds will be used mainly ! in research with four-fifths going to that department, and one-fifth to general administrative and educational edu-cational program. j The committee points out that j since Pearl Harbor 189,541 boys have been killed. Last year in A-Imerica A-Imerica 164,00 died of cancer. Since Pearl Harbor 1665 Utah boys have been killed. Last year 509 died of ! cancer in Utah, with 8 of them under un-der 14 years of age. ! The drive will be completed within with-in the month of April and the com-; com-; mittee asks your support in thtis ;very worthy cause. |
