Show Leamington Over the Top In Cancer Drive Leamington is the first community commun-ity in the drive for funds to combat com-bat cancer that has reported over the top. Ruth Finlinson, chairman, reported to Mrs. Vera Hilton "We have over-subscribed our quota by ISO percent and still have many more dollars coming in." This was welcome news to Mrs. Hilton, the county chairman. The drive is going well in all ot liter li-ter parts of the west side with the local collection boxes placed in the stores doing a fair job of collecting collect-ing receipts, but even more are needed to reach the quotas. Nine of these collection boxes have been palced in the various local lo-cal business houses for people to drop into them what they desire to contribute to the CancerDrive. According Ac-cording to Mrs. Hilton it is hoped that these boxes will be adequate and that the quota can be reached through their use. If not, a house to house drive is planned to raise the neceessary amount. The State as a whole has but $30,000 to raise which will go to cancer sufferers, education, and research re-search on this dreaded disease. 75 percent of the funds raised will be kept in tUah. The committee in Delta asks that when you see one of these conspicuous collection boxes you donate to one of them, and thus save the extra work of canvassers going from house to house. |
