Show "Hump" Flyer Awarded Disting'hed Flying Cross Second Lieutenant Grant T. Call-ister, Call-ister, according to word just received, re-ceived, has been awarded the Distinguished Dis-tinguished Flying Cross in the India-Burma Theater. The following is a true extract copy of the award: Heaquarters AAF APO 671, 18 Mar. 1345 Awards of the Distinguished Flying Fly-ing Cross: Pursuant, to authority contained in Army Regulations 600-15, War Department, Washington, D. C, dated da-ted 22 Sept. 1943, the Distinguished Distinguish-ed Flying Cross is hereby awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men of the India-China India-China Division, Air Transport Command," Com-mand," for extraordinary achievement achieve-ment by participating in more than 300 hours of operational flight in transport aircraft over the dangerous danger-ous and difficult Assam-China air routes, where enemy interception and attack was probable and expected. ex-pected. Flying at night as well as by day at high altitudes over impassable,- mountainous terrain through areas characterized by extremely ex-tremely treacherous weather conditions con-ditions necessitating long periods of operations on instruments, after encountering severe icing and mechanical me-chanical difficulties requiring courageous cour-ageous and superior performance of their respective duties to overcome, over-come, they accomplished their missions mis-sions with distinction. Their heroic achievement, in the face of the hazards ha-zards and difficulties faced regularly regu-larly and continuously with steadfast stead-fast devotion to duty, reflects much credit to themselves and the Army Air Force of the United States. Lt. Callister was awarded the Air Medal shortly after the first of the year. Between that award and this last one, he has received an Oak Leaf Cluster for his Air Medal, the 'Bronze Star, and his unit has received re-ceived a Presidential Citation. Grant's wife, the former Mattie Ann Robison, resides in Fillmore. He is the son of M-S T. Clark Callister Call-ister and a brother of Leland Call-isted Call-isted of Delta. Another brother, Rulon A. Callister, is a research en-! en-! gineer with the General Electric Research Laboratories, Schenectady. Schenecta-dy. N. Y.
