' 4 4 ? - v ss , , , , s - - j Approximately 8,000 Japanese were killed in the American Invasion of Kwajalein atoll in the Marshal Islands. Only 286 Yanks met death in the same campaign. Unitedtatcs marine and army wounded totaled 1,148 and 82 men were reported missing. Top: Assault boats and alligators are shown as they reached the beach at Knubuj bringing men and equipment of the Seventh division. It was this division which captured Kwajalein and adjacent islets.
