Show Woe The Poor I Farmer ! Another skirmish has taken place in the perpetual battle waged here between the farmers far-mers and the elements. With malice aforethought that high wind of two weeks ago came up in the night, and considerable property changed chang-ed hands. Some poor wretches who were sound asleep, woke to find that their seed crops had disappeared. On the other oth-er hand, neighbors no more deserving than they, woke up to find several thousand pounds of seed blown into their fields in the night. All the reports are not in yet, but the total crop promises to be better than average. But the question remains, whose seed is whose? One rumor, not verified, has it that one poor farmer in Snake Valley had 80 acres swept clean, and the threshing thresh-ing crew is seining the yield from Utah Lake. |
