Show Hinckley Mrs. tlcrrriet Spendlove Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wright were Mr. and Mrs. John Orender and son, Clyde of Sparks, Nev. A group from Hinckley attended the funeral services last Thursday of Mr. E. E. Stewart, an aunt of Nephi and George Stewart. Among those to go were: Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart, their son, Don, and their daughter, Mary Abbott, Mr . and Mrs. Pearson Stewart, Mr. and TVlrs. Nephi Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Talbot, Mrs. Byron Carter, Mrs. Chester Sly, Mrs. Gene Bishop, Mrs. Lynn Talbot, and Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Bennett. . She is reported to be recovering recover-ing nicely. She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Norval Christ-' Christ-' ensen. Dorthela Bishop has received a call to go on a mission for the LDS church, laboring in the Great Lakes Mission. She will enter the mission home in Hinckley. Mr. and Mrs. Don Mcintosh and family spent the week end at their home in Salt Lake City next Sept. I Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Hilton and children, Irene and Dale, were guests Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mas. Roy P. Hilton. Hil-ton. A guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart this week is Jo Ann Brown of San Bernardino, Cal. She is a fiancee of Reed Ste wart, who is also at the Stewart I home this coming from Geneva 1 for this week's vacation. Mrs. Clayton Cahoon returned to her home in TOD Park last Sunday after having spent a week with her mother, Emma Stratton ,who has been quite ill for some time and is now improving. WithMrs. Cahoon Ca-hoon were her son and daughter. The program for the MIA opening open-ing session Tuesday night was giv en by the Special Interest department, depart-ment, with the program consisting of a demonstration of hobbies. Mrs Nephi Stewart showed some of the rugs she had made and discussed this hobby, Howard Blake showed some of his work in the taxidermist field, giving a discussion on this, and Mr. Frank Hebert showed some of the lamps and picture frames he makes as a hobby. Dave Stevens talked about his learning of the Spanish language and sang the song, "O My Father" in that language. A vocal solo, "I Come To The Garden' was rendered by Byron Carter. Sunday Mrs. Emma Spendlove accompanied by Reva Taylor and the Golden Wedding reception for Dr. and Mrs. Amos N. Merrill. Mr. Marion Dillenbeck and Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Bennett visited in Salt Lake City Sunday with Mrs. Dillenbeck. They were very happy to find that Ruth Meinberg is now improved to the point that she can spend part of her time in a wheel chair. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Schena were hosts last week to Mr. and Mrs. Brown; who were visiting here before be-fore he sails to Japan, where he is to be stationed forTsome time as he is in the U. S.l Army. Mr Brown and Mr. Schena were stationed stat-ioned together in Germany during me war. Mrs. Nina Mecham was hostess to the Rook Club at their last meeting. After a lovely luncheon the evening was spent in the playing play-ing of Rook. High score was held i by Belva Morris, with Ruth Talbot 1 winning the second high. Guest prize was won by Ivy Allred, and Lois Wilson took the consolation prize. At this meeting Vi Robinson j was made a member of the club. Wynnie Wright spent the day at the State Training School in American Am-erican Fork, as this was a special visiting day. The children there had an unusually good Sunday School service and visitors were shown the work of the children and shown about the school. In the afternoon a meeting of all visitors vis-itors was held and officers for the Parent's Organization of the children child-ren in the school were elected. They were met in American Fork by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hansen of Salt Lake City, who spent the day with them. They were taken there by Blaine Spendlove, who with his wife Visited at the home of Harold Har-old Thatcher in Provo in the morning mor-ning and in the afternoon attend |
