Show II. II. S. News . . . HHS Seniors didn't report to school Wednesday, April 12 - - -explanation: they left at 4:00 a. m. for Provo for the annual "sneak". On the trip they went on a conducted con-ducted tour of the Geneva Steel Plant. A visit was then made to the American Fork School. After these education features the remainder re-mainder of the day was spent in roller skating and swimming. Friday April 14 was set aside as cleanup and primary election day at HHS. The campus was sectioned section-ed off and during the morning everyone ev-eryone pitched in and gave the ' grounds a good spring cleaning. After lunch the election assembly assem-bly was held and the canidates for ! ' studentbody officers were nominated nomin-ated . Elvin Tanner and Ronald i Nielson are running from Pres. Can ' didates for vice Pres. are Anna ; Lou Dewsnup and Don Larson. Se- ': lected as contenders for the sec. i and treas. position are Marlene , Ekins and Birdie Lou Hilton. Irene Lewis, Merlin Theobald, and Mae Jean Petersen in one group and Shirley Davis, Kathryn Ekins and ; Lyla Rae Talbot in the other, are i the finalist in the cheerleader try- i outs. The campaign will he con ducted during this week and final elections will be held Friday, April 21. During the remainder of the day all the students participated in one of several Softball games. Milford high school presented I their travelling assemby to the studentbody on Tuesday, April 11. The assembly arranged as a good will courier, included excellent mus ical, dance and speaking selections. select-ions. The numbers were prepared and presented in a highly entertaining enter-taining manner. Announcer for the group was VerdaO'Leary.The group was accompanied by their advisor, Mr. Long. A group of HHS track students participated in the track meet at Fillmore, Friday, April 14. Johnny . Moody scored second in the 100 yd. dash. Several other seconds & thirds were also scored by the Mus tang contenders. Fillmore high took sweepstake honors at this meet. The hard-hitting, fast- pitching Mustangs scored a decisive victory over the Parowan Rams Thursday, April 13. Despite a bad duststorm both teams stayed right in the game to the end. The HHS team scored 10 runs to Parowan's 1 up to the fifth Inning, when Parowan succeeded in driving across three more points and one more in the sixth. Final socre was 13-5, representing the widest point margin of any game of this season. Joe Young and Dick Davis each slugged out a homer, while Elvin Tanner upheld his record by striking strik-ing out eleven men. The game was announced over the school's loud-speaker system by Eldon Hurst. Hur-st. The Mustangs club will travell to Milford April 21, for their next game. |
