Show Livestock Sale Tops Nation's Cattle Markets Friday the Delta Livestock Auction Auc-tion company held its annual spring sale of cattle with 914 head being sold for a little over $129, 000.00. Bidding was spirited and rapid with the cattle moving thru the ring fast ,and bringing excellent excell-ent prices. It has been told to us by authoritative author-itative people in the cattle business busin-ess that the Delta sale topped the nation's markets that day. It has also been pointd out to us that the sale handled more cattle and at a better price on Friday than the Cincinnati market did for a whole week, which shows the trend of the sale that day. Dewey Sanford, manager of the sale reports that one buyer took $50,000 worth, and also that the price got so high that some buyers buy-ers could not bid as they were authorized to go to a certain figure. fig-ure. He also stated that there was the largest number of buyers present pre-sent for several years. Since the organization of the Delta Livestock Auction it has been the custom to hold an annual sale each spring. This year the cattle feeding was so light in this area that at first it was thought inadvisable inad-visable to hold the sale. But even though the number of cattle was far down the sale was held, and proved to be only slightly smaller than former years, but much higher high-er prices. |
