Show Stake Conference Will Be Held March 19 and 20 Joseph H. Merrill of the Council of Twelve and Roscoe W. Eardley, managing director of the Church Welfare Program, will be here Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday, March 19 and 20 for Deseret Stake Quarterly Conference. The first meeting of general is the Priesthood Leadership Meeting to be held Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the Delta Second ward. President Harold R. Morris urges that all the followine be present at that meeting: Stake Presidency, Stake High Council, Patriarchs, Stake Clerk, Stake Mel-chizedek Mel-chizedek Priesthood Committee, all presidents and secretaries of Mel-chizedek Mel-chizedek Priesthood quorums, the Stake Mission President, Stake Aaronic Priesthood Committee; Stake Committee for Adult members mem-bers of Aaronic Priesthood, all the ward bishoprics, Stake Ward teach ing Committee, and Aaronic Priesthood Priest-hood general secretaries. SUNDAY SESSIONS General sessions will be held at 10:00 a.m. and at 2 p.m. in the Delta First ward. Elder Merrill has asked that a roll call of the auxiliaries auxi-liaries in the stake in the afternoon after-noon session and that if it is impossible im-possible for these people to attend at-tend all meetings, that they should be here for this one. At the afternoon session President Presi-dent Morris has announced a portion por-tion of the program to be unusual in that two Indian women investigators investi-gators will sing the duet, "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet." They are June Drye and Arvilla Cheelester. A talk will also be given by June Drye. WILL BE SET APART At one of the general sessions of this conference two wards and one branch will be set apart. The Hinckley bishopric which was recently re-cently re-organized is one. The other two are Abraham Branch and Sugarville ward. Released from service in the Abraham Branch will be Alva Young, president; Stewart Taylor, first counselor; Gustaff Taylor, second se-cond counselor; and Max Hol-brook, Hol-brook, clerk. Those to be sustained sustain-ed are; Gustaff Taylor, Branch President; Sherman Tolbert, first counselor; Alva Young, Jr., the second se-cond counselor. The clerk is yet to be chosen. In the Sugarville ward, Romulus Shields has been released as bishop, bish-op, with his two counselors, Harold Jensen and I. H. Losee. Virgil Losee clerk, will be retained as clerk in the new bishopric. The new bishop is Harold Jensen, but his counselors, counsel-ors, are yet to be chosen. Two members of the Stake High Council will also be set apart, these being Verdell R. Bishop and Willard Stephensen. MIA GIVES PROGRAM The evening meeting of general conference is under the direction of the Stake MIA and will present the theme: "Remember the Sabbath Sabb-ath Day to Keep it Holy." Participating Partici-pating on the program as speakers will be: Ivie Dean Nielson, Melvin Hepworth, Dorothy Bishop, Geral-: dine Black and Paul Adams. Others will participate in musical mus-ical numbers under the direction of Gertrude Western and Evan Christensen. THIRD WARD CHORUS SINGS i A chorus of 95 voices from Delta .Third ward will give the music I at the morning and afternoon general gen-eral sessions Sunday. Directed by Evan Christensen, the singers have prepared a program of special arrangements ar-rangements for this conference. |
