Avery Bish-op. Party 'Makes Call T Absemt 55ost Mrs. M. O. Warnick was hostess to the Pinochle Club at her home on Saturday night, when a long distance telephone call was put in to Mr. Warnick at the Fitzsim-mon- s hospital in Denver, where he is a patient, and is still in a cast recovering from an operation on his' spinal column. The guests, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Riding, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Black, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Morriss, and Mr. and Mrs. Kernell, all talked with Mr. Warnick, and exchanged news. He will be in the hospital for several months yet, al-though his condition. is very good. Mrs. Warnick expects to leave early in January for Denver, and will spend several weeks visiting her husband. Jcosantry Oti! Has Festive ;aaty Mrs. Verna Shepherd was host-ess to the Country Club at their Christmas party at her home on Monday night, Dec. 22. The home was beautifully decorated in the Christmas spirit, with holly, wreaths, the lighted Christmas tree and tables set with favors for each club member. Those present for the holidays occasion1 were Dorothy Steele, Lois Hinckley, Vi Morten-!se- Eleanor Roberts, LaPreal Mor-tense- n, Fern Mortensen, Rayda Knight, June Reid, Lois Maxfield, Dora Munster, Beulah Bassett and Ann Hales. A turkey dinner was served, and bridge played later in the evening. High scores were held by Mrs. Steele, and Mrs. Knight, while Mrs. Reid won a consolation prize for low score. At the end of the even-ing the members exchanged Chrisf-ma- s gifts. NOTE OF THANKS . . . The family of Mrs. Oscar Peter-son wishes to express their deep appreciation and thankfulness fori the many kindnesses and aid giv- - en them in the illness of Mrs. Pet-- erson. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Morley and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielson and son, spent Christmas in Moroni, for a family dinner with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snow and son Harold drove to Salt Lake City for Christmas, where they had dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Snow. Elwood Mortensen went to Salt Lake City Sunday, to spend several days. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony W. Steph-enson, and children, drove to Delta Christmas day, from Cedar City, and visited here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Avery Bishop and A; E. Stephenson, and families. Tony and Willard Stephenson left Wednesday to drive to California with a load of bees, and the family returned to Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Krit Petty and small daughter, and Miss Louisa Beck-stea-returned to Salt Lake City, Sunday, after a visit here during the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Beckstead. Mr. and Mrs.. Andrew Schlappi and their children visited in Delta over Christmas and until Sunday, when they returned to their home in Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Stucki and young daughter, Susan, returned to their home in Salt Lake City Mon-day after a visit in Delta over Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Callister went to Salt Lake City on Monday be-fore Christmas, to take their infant son, Robert, to the hospital. The baby is still in the hospital, where he is being treated and his diet ad-justed, and is much improved. His parents returned to Delta for ovn at Vinmp with their Jaughter, Judy, and will bring him home later from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Riding lad as their Christmas dinner quests, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Riding ind daughter, Bonnie, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Franklin and small daugh-ter, and Mrs. Franklin's mother, Mrs. Sailiors, from Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Chesley, of 3anta Barbara, Cal., and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Farnsworth ind family, of Los Angeles, were n Fillmore and Delta for the holi-lay- s, spending Christmas Day and Friday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pearson and Mr. and Mrs. Scott :hesley. REED TURNER Delta - - - Utah i j Entertains At Holiday Pary Saturday night Stella .Carling was hostess to a Christmas party given at her home. A delicious lun-cheon was served after which cards were played. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Milden Scow, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blackburn, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hawley, Fon Hawley and Stella Carling. j The coldest day in last week was 9 above on the 23rd. Snow Monday morning of this week. A telephone call to Delta on Sunday announced the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Verl Johnson, on Dec. 28. The baby was born at Billings, Montana, where the family have made their home since they moved from Delta. Her name is Margaret Kay. Word was also sent to her grandparents, Mrs. Laura Johnson, in Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Warnick, in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peterson, and daughter, Diane, visited in Ver-nal from Friday until Monday, with Mrs. Peterson's family, Mr. and Mrs. John Koiter. Mrs. Oscar Peterson was taken to the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City two days before Christmas, seriously ill, accompanied by her husband. Mrs. Peterson had under-gone two major operations in the past nine months, and this illness was considered critical. Her fri-ends will be pleased to hear that her condition improved so rapidly at the hospital that she was re-leased on Saturday morning, and after about two weeks' at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nelda Jensen, in Salt Lake City, expects to re-turn home. Mr. Peterson returned I this week, to be with the childr- - ren. I Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Riding and family, from Springville, visited in Delta over Saturday and Sunday. T5 Mern D. Johnson is home for the Christmas holidays on a y furlough, visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson. He will re-turn to Camp Stoneman, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bishop are spending the next six weeks in Oak City, where Mr. Bishop and son, Gordon, are building a new home for Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson. Mr, and Mrs. Max Bishop and family, from Salt Lake City, spent Christmas Day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bishop. They left early Friday morning to return to Salt Lake, where Mr. Bishop has 24 new homes under construction. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pace, and their mother, Mrs. Kathryn M. Pace, left Delta Saturday, to drive to Calif-ornia to spend several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ingersoll, of Meeker, Colorado, and their daugh-ter and two sons, were in Delta for Christmas with their father, Wm. H. Bassett. Miss Mary Peterson, from Salt Lake City, visited in Delta over Christmas until Sunday, .with her sister, Mrs. Wanda Beckwith. |
