Champ, head of the Cache Valley Mortgage Loan Co., has returned re-turned from a trip through Payette and Boise valleys, Idaho. lie was also al-so over In eastern Oregon. Mr. Champ comes back highly enthusiastic over that country. Ho says tho climate Is better than ours and Unproductiveness Unproductive-ness of the soil much greater than our own. He tells of one man who raised 943 tons of alfalla on 115 acres of land last year. This farmer watered but once during the season, and that very early, in February. Mr. Champ says that so much alfalfa was raised last year that 100,000 tons aro left over. A most delightful social rime was enjoyed and refreshments were served. The club presented the ladles with tokens of esteem and good will and members expressed many regrets at their doming dom-ing departure. W. W. McLaughlin, the republican member of the Board of Education who has been away for some weeks, has returned. Mr. McLaughlin is dissatisfied with wlm he seems to think Is the exceedingly" hurried purchase pur-chase of the Rlter property, and Inasmuch Inas-much as the papers have not yet been signed, ho is trying to have definite action go over for a time. In Mr. McLaughlin's Mc-Laughlin's opinion there Is a possibility possi-bility that this purchase is not wholly advisable and he wants the matter thoroughly Investigated. He pioposes to the board that they get a thirty or sixty days option on tho Rlter property pro-perty If possible, and investigate all phases of the matter carefully. The Board will meet tonight and no doubt the matter will be decided definitely ono way or the other. A clerk of the Board will also be elected. |
