During tho year 101 persons wero lynched or murdered by mobs, 12a wero killed by authority of law for various crimes, 8.107 committed suicide, and there was a large number of murders, mur-ders, Including 33a by burglars, robbers and thieves. The statistics, which are collected from newspnper tiles, are, of course, Incomplete, but ns nearly ns can be ascertained about 10,000 people went to their deaths by their twn bunds or those of others. |
