It Is with sincere regret that the people of Logan learn for a certainty that "Corlanton" Is a thing of the past. The "remains" were brought to Logan on Thursday of last week and interred in the cellar under the Thatcher opera house. At Its birth the infant gave promise of a healthy child and eventually an honored and popular adult, but owing to a complication compli-cation of internal troubles, combined With an unavoidable pressure known iw "the shorts" the beloved child gradually grad-ually succumbed and finally ceased Its struggles. Far away from home and in a hostile land, U19 deceased, writhed In agony nml finally gaVC Up tile ghost. The entile State Of Utah itldlll-ns tho loss, but live in the grand ohd UlcSSed hope of seeing it In tllo tutUre, resurrected resur-rected in resplendent glory. Seriously, It Is. unfortunate that Corlanton met with such tin untimely and unfortun-Utc unfortun-Utc end. Whatever tho trouble may have been that led to the disbandment of the company there seems to bo little lit-tle doubt that the production in the hands of competent men will .prove a winner und the success the Utah people peo-ple wish for it. There is much in the play that Is good and as a spectalnlar production It Is without a peer. The recent adversity experienced by those who floated the concern may jet prove the best thing that could have happened, hap-pened, it has taught them a few things and when the play Is again brought out, as It no doubt will be, it will be In such shape as to make it a success instantaneously. Mr. George W.Thatcher Jr. as one of the promoters pro-moters deserves great credit for the way In which he stood by the proposition propos-ition through thick und thin. He worked unceasingly to bring the affair to a successful Issue, but the odds were against him. He still has faith in the production as onc of merit and one that will win out If given a fair show, and that's all he asks for it. The scenery carried by the company Is enormous and expensive, and Is now stored in Logan under Mr. Thatcher's care. |
