Show PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT IS RIGHT. Demagogues cry out that President Roosevelt Roose-velt has attacked capital, has arrayed himself against the rich because they are rich; that he charges roguery wherever money is found In extraordinary sums. We have failed to read that In any of the president's utterances. He has called some rich men liars, as most of them are necessarily, and he has not hesitated to condemn monopolistic corporations. lie has said that a rich thief Is as much a thief as any other malefactor before the law, and he has condemned chicanery In high places, utterly regardless of the men upon whose heads his condemnations might fall. Mr. Roosevelt has at all times recognized corporate rights, but ho does not hesitate to declaim against corporate abuses. He sees great possibilities for good in tho combination of capital, but he Insists that laws tor the protection of the people must not be disregarded to their disadvantage. Mr. Roosevelt has not at anv time cried out against wealth, but he has scathingly Renounced dishonest dis-honest methods of acquiring wealth, and he urges that wealth should not bo permitted to cheat Justice when It seeks to punish him who gets his wealth dlshontstly. President Roosevelt Roose-velt has said no unkind word about the man who acquires his wealth legitimately, nor has he spoken harshly of the corporation conducting conduct-ing its business according to law. Hesfmply takes the position that the rich man has no right greater than that of his poorer brother; that the rich man is equally amenable to the demands of justice its defined In tho laws of his country; that tho rich man shall have privileges equal with tho poor man but not greater; that he must make his money honestly; honest-ly; that he must recognize the poor man as his brother at least lusofar us tho law dollncs that brotherhood. President Roosevelt Is right, tho people know ho Is right, and they will hardly bo misled by the attacks of demagogues In tho pay of the dishonestly conducted corporations hit so hard by tho president.
