Tho faculty committee on arrangements arrange-ments for Arbor Day exercises have secured Prof. S. II. Goodwin as speaker speak-er on that occasion. Mr. Goodwin is a non resident member of the college faculty and a well known ornithologist. ornitholo-gist. The exercises will take place at the college on Wednesday morning and will consist of the address, music and tree planting. Dean Peterson '10 has been elected manager of the track team representing represent-ing the agricultural students. With such men as Conger, II. Nebeker and Laurenson they will make an excellent excel-lent allowing at the college track meet for the various schools. Prof. Larson entertained at dinner in the college dining roon last Thursday. Thurs-day. Prof. Titus read a paper on the Recent Re-cent Developments In Breeding of Parasites and Dr.Ball gave one on tho Origin and Description of the Homop-terous Homop-terous fauna of the desert. The animal husbandry students, chaperoued by Prof. J. T. Calne III, will attend the horse show at Smith-field Smith-field today. This month's Issue of Student Life will contain a very able and timely article by Walter Porter '05 who Is now studying at Harvard. A recital was given at the college on Wednesday afternoon by the students of tho school of music. Advanced piano students of Mrs. Sloan gave piano pi-ano so'os, and vocal solos were given by Mr. Stratford and Mr. Bowman and the glee club sang two selections. Friday evening a humorous entertainment enter-tainment was given by Bob Smith under un-der tho auspices of tho B. Y. and tho A.O. B. Y. C. (Ry Ellphalet Bllnlccnsdorfcr.) Thursday President Llnford occupied the hour giving a conference report: On Friday Irene Hcndrlckson gave a vocal solo. At Webster society Wednesday evening eve-ning the question, "Resolved, that United States senators should oe elected by popular ballot?" was debated de-bated by Joseph Jenson and George Gardner for tho alllrmatlve, and E. Erlckson and orman Lloyd for tho negative. The question proved to be a very lively one. Thursday evening the juniors were entertained at the home of Miss Ella Smith. The program consisted of a number of lively contests which made the occasion stand out as being tho best In In Its line given in the school thisjear. The outside work on Nlbley Hall Is almost completed and efforts arc being be-ing made to get It nearly enough completed com-pleted that the class entertainments can be given In it at commencement. Yesterday afternoon the boys of tho school got out with rakes and put the track In order for the class track meet, 'which is to be held today. The surveying class Is laying out a plot In the southeast corner of the campus for an aquarium to be used for boating and bathing in summqr and skating In winter, President Lfnford has been away for a week attending conference, meeting meet-ing with tho board of examiners and arranging matters for the college. The athletic committee has decided to present tho successful competitors In the track meets jersey sweaters, on which will be placed the college monogram mono-gram "C" The athletic dance will be given tonight to-night In the college auditorium, during dur-ing which the ribbons will be presented present-ed to the winners In the class track meet which takes place today. |
