Show Qty investigates possibility of qualifying for flood insurance Cedar City Council took steps in their, meeting Thursday Thurs-day evening to meet requirements require-ments that would make low cost flood insurance available to residents of the community. Under a special program of Housing and Urban Development Develop-ment (HUD) the insurance is available to residents if the city meets certain standards and criteria. The Council approved an investigation in-vestigation to determine the specific needs of the city to qualify for the insurance. If it is within reason that the city can qualify it is expected that the necessary changes or Improvements Im-provements would be made, Mayor Loren Whetten stated. Once q u a 1 ified, residents could then apply, Individually, for the low cost Insurance. In other action of the Council, Coun-cil, they: Turned down a request for rezoning of a section of Alta-roira Alta-roira Drive to allow for the construction con-struction of a clinic on the street. The proposed clinic would be located on Altamira, northwest of the Graff Clinic. The Planning and Zoning Commission Com-mission had recommended the change provided residents of the area approved. Mayor Whetten indicated that a survey sur-vey of the area indicated that residents generally, were opposed op-posed to the change. Adopted an Ordinance that would make new ordinances ordinan-ces that have been prepared by the City Attorney over the past two years, effective beginning January 1. The new ordinances are currently being published and will be available early In 1974, the Mayor Indicated. Adopted rates for the Painted Pain-ted Hills Municipal Golf Course. Rates will remain the same in 1974 as they were in 1973. Daily Dai-ly rate will be $1.50 for adults per nine holes and $1 for juniors. jun-iors. Annual passes will be available at $90 for a single and $120 for a husband and wife. A special Junior season pass will also be available at $35 if purchased in conjunction with either a single or husband and wife pass. Also available will be seasonal sea-sonal passes. Passes from January Jan-uary through June and from August through December will be sold at $35 each, and a rate of $40 will continue for the July through September period. |
