Show T-Bird wrestlers enter RMAC meet this week The SUSC Wrestlers end their 1973-74 season this Saturday when they travel to Golden, Colorado, for the Rocky Mountain Moun-tain Athletic Conference Championships. Adams State, Western State, Fort Lewis and Colorado School of Mines also will have teams there. Adams State is the defending champ, while SUSC placed fourth last year with 31 points. The top three wrestlers in each weight will qualify for the NAIA Nationals March 7-8-9 in River Falls, Wisconsin. Last year SUSC sent three men to the Nationals, Pete Buatti (118), Ladd Holman (150) and Scott Teeples (190). The T-Birds ended their dual season by losing to Weber State, 37-9, and to Utah State, 41-0. The young T-Birds of Coach Joe Lopour finished with a season dual record of 1-9-1. Craig Rollo (118) and Wayne Ritter (158) were the only two SUSC grapplers to win against Weber State while Pete Buatti (126) drew. Rollo won a superior decision over Pete Garcia 15-3, Ritter got revenge over Reed Swenson 4-0. He and Swenson drew here in the T-Bird Quad. Buatti wrestled his first match since January 12 and got a takedown with four seconds left in the match to draw with Phil Orton 7-7. |
