Show CHS Heclmen must bounce back to fake Region title post with Cornell Christensen and Kevin Cox at the forward spots. On the guard line, Bob Piatt and Robert Shirts are expected to start. Ready to lend a hand will be Brad Lambeth. One of the problems that coach Hobbs is still trying to iron out is Leavitt's problem of developing foul trouble. In the first meeting against Millard, Leavitt was benched with five fouls in the fourth quarter and this past week against the Flyers he had to leave the game, via the foul route. The Cedar High School Red-men Red-men have led the Region Eight basketball race through the entire season, yet the coveted title, which brings with it an automatic berth in the state tournament, will not be decided until the final night of league play. The Redmen lost a heart-breaker heart-breaker to the Dixie Flyers at St. George last Thursday evening for their first league loss and third for the entire season. That loss however put Coach Dick Hobbs and his Redmen in a position that they are only guaranteed a tie for the league championship. To win it outright they must defeat the Millard Eagles here Friday night to capture the title and the tournament berth. Dixie, meanwhile, has completed com-pleted their league play and draw ! a bye in the final round of action. The Flyers, currently are one half game behind the Redmen with two losses on the season. If the Redmen defeat Millard Friday -- game time is set for 8 p.m. in the Cedar High School gymnasium -- they will have won the title. If they lose it will move them into a tie with the Dixie Fryers, which would require a playoff for the title. Coach Hobbs and his Redmen will be out for a victory Friday to eliminate the necessity for a playoff and to give them momentum prior to the Region Class 2A tournament to be hosted the next week at Fillmore. Three teams from Region Eight will advance to the state tournament this year. The winner of the league automatically wins a berth, but must participate in the Region tournament for seeding purposes in the state classic. The remaining four teams of the league will play a single elimination tournament with one team advancing to the finals agaiast Cedar City and the other two advancing teams tangling on Saturday of next week for the third place spot. In other action this week Delta will be at Hurricane, but the outcome of that game will have no bearing in the league standings. stan-dings. Delta could finish no better than fourth and the Tigers of Hurricane, even if they win, would still hold down the cellar spot. The game Friday night will be no picnic for the Redmen.
