Show Merena Prestwich named prexy on secretaries association chapter speeches were followed with questions and a panel discussion. July's meeting was held on July 18 at the Town & Country Restaurant. Guest speaker was Dean Harold Hiskey, speaking on "Economics" with an interesting film entitled "pne Way to Better Cities", a film on land use. The meeting for August was held on Thursday, August 15 at the Town & Country Restaurant. Dr. Sterling Church spoke on "Decision Making", giving the secretaries in attendance framework in the decision making process along with flow charts and an interesting test on decision making. September's meeting will be held Thursday, September 19 12 noon at the Sugar Loaf Cafe. Interested secretaries should call Sheri Slade at 586-3047 to attend the luncheon and get acquainted with the NSA organization. A chapter of the National Secretaries Association (NSA) has been formed in Cedar City. The purpose , of NSA is 1) To i elevate the standards of the secretarial profession. 2) To unite, for their mutual benefit, those who are or have been engaged in secretarial work. 3) To grow intellectually and socially. 4) To develop initiative and leadership. 5) To exchange ideas with others having similar interest. 6) To work for civic projects, thereby promoting the welfare of the community. 7) To assist young people to secure an education which will prepare them for secretarial careers. Officers for the Cedar City Chapter are: President: Marena Prestwich Vice President: Sandra Maxwell Secretary: Pam Orton Treasurer: Sheri Slade The chapter holds luncheon meetings the third Thursday of each ' month at various restaurants. The chapter's first meeting was held May 16th at the Sugar Loaf Cafe. Guest speaker was Pauline Nelson who spoke on "Management of Time." The meeting for June was held on Thursday, June 20 at the SUSC Student Senate Room. Guest speakers were Stan Forsyth (First Security Bank), W. Dallin Gardner (Utah Properties), Garn Huskinson, CPA (Huskinson, Guber and Assoc.) and Marion Mandeville (The Coleman Company, Inc.). Topic for the meeting was "Initiative For Your Secretary-When, How Much, Why?" Individual |
