The battle was a prelude to the 1974 season as the Iledmen will tangle with El Dorado High School of Las Vegas in Cedar City here Friday. Kickoff time is set for 8 p.m. Redmen tangle with Nev. club Friday to open season starting units he expected about 18 boys to play, indicating that only a lew will be called on to go both ways. Saturday night a few members of the Varsity team and the sophomore will travel to Panaca, Nev. to take on Lincoln High School in their opening game of the season. Meanwhile action in the Two A division of Region Eight will be getting underway Friday with a couple of key battles. Friday evening it will be Dixie hosting Delta while Friday afternoon af-ternoon Millard High School will play host to Hurricane. The Redmen drew 'a bye in the opening round of play making the game against El Dorado possible. "We felt good about the intersquad in-tersquad game held Saturday night but believe that we need to concentrate on our defense." Those are the remarks of Jack Bishop, head football coach at Cedar High School as he prepared for the opening game of the season Friday night against El Dorado High School of Las Vegas. Nev. Kickoff for the season opener is scheduled for 8 p.m. on the Cedar High School field. El Dorado, who have a :i4 to 6 scrimmage victory over Western of Las Vegas under their belt is apparently a team that likes to throw the ball "Our scouting reports indicate that they are strong through Ihe air with good size and speed in the backfield," Bishop indicated. For the contest Coach Bishop indicated a possible starting offensive unit for the battle. Starting at ends will be Fred Wright and Brad Blackner, Offensive tackles will be Steve Gale and Ron Dobson with Jeff Anderson and Kevin Averett at the guard spots. Starting center will be Bret Smith. Coach Bishop indicated that either Scott Burns or Robert Shirts will get the starting call at the quarterback slot, but that each is expected to see a lot of action. Starting at fullback will be Mark Leavitt with Kim Neilson at tailback and Jeff Jolley at slot back. "We have made a number of personnel changes during the past week with an attempt to place Ihe boys w here they w ill do the team the most good," Bishop stated.
