Show Outstanding DAY Award accorded to Utahn The Disabled American Veterans, Vet-erans, Dixie Chapter Commander, Command-er, Murray (Norman) Gubler, reports that the National DAV has selected a Utah man as "America's Most Outstanding Disabled Veteran." Michael R. (Mike) Johnson of Provo was the recipient of the title. Mike is a bilateral amputee having suffered the loss of both legs above the knee. Both his hands were terribly ter-ribly mutilated. He has bits of metal in his eyes and has a steel plate in his forehead. Despite these multiple injuries, in-juries, Mike holds down a full time job as a draftsman, teaches teach-es a Sunday School class and works with the Boy Scouts. In his "spare" time he likes to hunt and fish. He is very proud of the fact that he got a four point buck last fall. Johnson is married to the former Denise Anderson. They have a new son, Casey and they reside at 3662 Piute Dr. in Provo. Commander Gubler said he is happy to report that the 1974 . DAV State Convention will be held in St. George and urges all eligible veterans who are not now members of the DAV to join and participate in the state confab. |
