Show Bantam basketball meet slated It's tournament time for the bantam basketball program sponsored through the State of Utah by the National Guard. Throughout the season two leagues have been competing in Cedar City with seven teams in the National League and six in the American. The top four teams in each league will participate in a round robin Friday and Saturday with the winner in each league to advance to the area finals to be hosted by Cedar City on Saturday, Satur-day, Feb. 16. Finishing in first place in the National League was Stevens Company with a record of 6 and 1. In second place was Utah International In-ternational with a 5-2 mark and tieing for third and fourth place were Ron's Sporting Goods and Parowan Mercantile with four wins and three losses each. Other teams in the league not advancing ad-vancing to the Dlavoff were High School Gymnasium. In the American League Gulf will meet theOutdoorsman and at the same time the National League will see Stevens battling against Parowan Merc. At 8:00 p.m. American hopefulls, Cox and Iron County Record will square off and Utah International and Ron's Sporting Goods of the National League will meet. Finals will be played Saturday morning. At 10 a.m. the winners in the American League will meet and at 11 a.m. the National League finals will be held. The Saturday winners in each league will advance ad-vance to the next level of tournament tour-nament play. Under the direction of the Cedar City unit of the National Guard the area playoffs will be held here on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Cedar High School gymnasium. gym-nasium. Six teams will par ticipate in that tournament. Pairings were announced as follows : Fillmore will meet the winner of the Cedar National League; St. George No. 2 team will tangle with the Cedar City American League champions and Beaver will meet St. George No. 1. The winner of the National and Fillmore game and the winner of the Beaver and St. George No. 1 games will be on February 23 in a site to be determined after the 16th tournament. The winner of the St. George No. 2 and American League game will draw a bye to the 28th at which time they will meet the winner of the game to be played on the 23rd. The winner on the 28th will advance to the state finals to be held in Salt Lake City represented the Southern Utah area. Southern Utah Mortuary, 3-4; Cedar Glass, 1-6 and Hunter's 0-7. Gulf Oil walked off with first place honors in the American League with a record of seven wins and no losses. Cox Cabinet was second with a 6-1 followed by Iron County Record at 5-2 and Outdoorsman with a 4-3 mark. Other teams included Arctic Circle, 3-4 and Parowan Lions, 0-7. 0-7.
