Show ROLLO-glyphics it KL1EN HOLLO It's been a hectic two weeks at the Record Office-one that has been compounded with the installation in-stallation of new equipment. Of course, the equipment is designed to speed up the operation, but initially the speedup results in in a slowdown until we become familiar , and orientated with the new equipment. equip-ment. What has happened is that we have installed photo electronic typesetting equipment that gives us a much broader range of printing capabilities not only in our newspaper but in our commercial com-mercial printing department as well. The equipment is produced by Compugraphic Corporation Typesetting systems and involves in-volves the utilization of computer justification, computer hyphenation; photo electronics -In other words a whole new ball game. To give you an idea of how well we scored in the first inning of the new game we were diligent at work with this super fast, super equipment until 4 a.m.. last Wednesday morning, before we got the paper to bed. Since it is a new ball game, we have a lot of new rules to learn. New concepts to apply and hopefully, as the game progresses we will be able to take full advantage of the equipment to bring to you, our customers and subscribers a better paper, better service, and a better commercially printed product. As we go along we will be adding other equipment to augment this newest addition to our plant operation in order to keep abreast of the changes in technology that are becoming so much a part of our industry. Take a little closer look at the paper this week - it's our second inning. We hope that you will find the type a little sharper, the type in general clearer and more legible. Margins between the columns have also been increased in-creased to increase the readibility of the paper. If you have a comment regarding the paper don't hesitate to give us a ring. Last week was so exasperating that it put me in the hospital for a couple of days - not really that, but I did spend a couple of days at the Valley View Medical Center. The only thing the hastle at the first of the week, compounded by the hospital stay at the last of the week, has put me even further behind this week than usual --almost --almost an impossibility, but it has. So this week who knows when we will finally get the paper "to bed," if the term is even applicable ap-plicable in the modern terminology. ter-minology. Just one parting shot this week and it concerns a question of a man holding two elective offices. I see this week in an AP report out of Ogden that, unofficially, the Utah Attorney General's office has advised an Ogden man that he should not continue to hold two elective offices simultaneously. A man in West Ogden is presently a member of the Ogden City Board of Education and also a member of the state legislature representing Weber County's third district. We have a similar situation in Iron County with Glen Halterman of Parowan serving both on the County School Board and as a, County Commissioner as well. The Attorney General's rulings seem to be inconsistant in that we , were advised at the time of. Halterman's election that a; ruling was issued stating that he could serve in both capacitiies. Wonder which ruling is correct? |
