Show Series will feature "Freedom from Want" Professor of Political Science at Utah State University, presents the sixth in the series of Freedom and Responsibility programs in Cedar City, February 13. To open the evening's discussion Dr. Allen has written a short playlet, "Viewpoint: Welfare," which will be per- "Freedom from Want: Can Everyone Fare Well in a Free Society?" Is freedom from want a human right? What is poverty? Who deserves welfare, and under what conditions? These are a few of the questions to be taken up when Edward H. Allen, Assistant formed by Arthur Y. Smith, speech instructor, and Leslie Jensen, Theatre Arts student. The play is based on actual welfare cases but, according to the author, owes something both to the Book of Job and to Shakespeare. Once again, everyone is welcome to attend the meeting at the SUSC Music Center, Room 206, Wednesday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m. Past meetings have provided stimulating open discussions and this meeting should be no exception. |
