Show (j (2 HAMS COMPLETE SEASON. The Parowan High School Rams won their opening game and lost the next two in the state Class 1A tournament at Provo to end the 1977-78 basketball season. Rams end Season at State Tourney PAROWAN - The Parowan Rams finished out their basketball season with a trip to the State Tournament last week. The 1A tourney held in Provo in the Marriott Center saw southern Utah teams dominate the meet with North Sevier 1st, Kanab 3rd, Panguitch 4th and Milford 5th. The Rams picked up a big win the first day over Altamont 66 - 47, then lost to South Summit by a 45 to 57 score,' and were eliminated by a hot-shooting Panguitch team on Friday. Brad Fife was high scorer in the game with Altamont game with 20 points and 6 rebounds; Mike Evans had 12 and 10 rebounds; Mike Robinson had 10, Brent Rowley and Pat Benson each added 8 points. Kim Bess, Blair Bentley, and Matheson had one each and Richard Burton added 3. Leading scorers in the South Summit game were Fife with 20 and Rowley and Robinson with 8 each. Robinson and Evans were top rebounders with 8 and 7 respectively. Friday, coach Ralph Riggs played all of his men emptying the bench early in the fourth quarter. Leading scorers were Fife with 20 and Evans 10. High for Panguitch were Kevin Francen with 27, D. Owens with 21 and Black 18. Panguitch hit 26 of 35 from the foul line, the Rams hit 7 of 12. Robinson and Fife fouled out in the Fourth Quarter. An all time scoring record was set for a 4-game 1A tournament by Rusty Price of North Rich with 148 points, an average of 37 per game. Coach Riggs and his team are to be congratulated for their fine efforts, and the enjoyment they have provided for the fans this nast season. |
