General session of the conference, to which the public is invited to attend, at-tend, will be held Sunday, March 19 at 10 a.m. in the Cedar West Stake House 61 North 900 West, with the overflow crowd to attend the 7th, 9th, 13th and 16th Ward Chapel located at 256 South West. Jr. Sunday School will be held at each of these buildings during the conference session, according to Conrad V. Hatch, Stake president. Also attending the conference will be LaMar H. Stewart, a Regional Representative to the Council of Twelve. McConkie is the well-known author of "Mormon Doctrine," a three volumn "Doctrinal New Testament Commentary," and also the compiler and editor of three volumnes of the sermons and writings of President Joseph Fielding Smith, entitled, "Doctinres of Salvation." The general authority has extensive church experience, having served as a General Authority of the Church since 1946. For 26 years he was a member of the First Council of the Seventy. From 1961 to 1964 he served as President of the Southern Australian Mission with headquarters in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He served on the Church Board of Education and on the Board of Trustees of the Brigham Young University. He has also served as Servicemen's Coordinator for the Church, supervising super-vising the spiritual guidance of thousands of young men in the armed services. Stewart is a native of Fairview, and is a practicing physician and Surgeon in Gunnison. He is active in the Boy Scout movement serving as an Executive Member at large of the Utah National Parks Council. He is also a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. In his church callings he has served as a Bishop, a Stake President, and was called as a Regional Representative in 1974. BRUCE R. McCONKIE Bruce R. McConkie, a member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, will be a featured speaker at the Cedar City Utah West Stake Conference Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19. Saturday evening, March 18, at 7 p.m. the first conference meeting will be held. This meeting is for all adults 18 years of age and older. It will be held in the Cedar West Stake House. At 9 p.m. Saturday evening a meeting for all single adults of the stake will be held. All single adults, Bishoprics, Elders Quorum presidencies and Relief Society |
