Show School District issues contracts ; hear delegations Several contracts were awarded and employee authorizations granted at the meeting of the Iron County School Board Monday. The board accepted a bid from First Security Bank for the supplying of $1 million in anticipated tax revenue funds. Interest rate on the amount would be 5.31 percent. The Distict also opened and awarded a contract for the supplying of fire insurance for coverage of $10 million, approximately one-third of the districts property. The bid was awarded to The Village Insurance Agency of Provo. The annual premium for the two year coverage was $9,398.00 with a $25,000 deductible clause. Bids were also opened on broadcast rights for Cedar High School and Parowan High School football and basketball games. The contract was awarded to KSUB Radio for $1865 for Cedar High and $75 for Parowan High School. The contract covers preseason pre-season and regular season games providing that any post season games would be under the jurisdiction of the Utah High School Activity Association of the respective Region organizations. Authorization was also given to offer contracts to several people to fill existing positions within the district. Cheryl Orton was approved to fill an opening at Parowan Elementary. Judy C. Passey was approved to serve as a home economics instructor at Cedar High School and Wm. Haungs was approved to be employed on the district maintenance staff. In pther action Bessie Petree was authorized to serve as director of the Lunch Room at the Enoch Elementary. Elemen-tary. She has served as a cook for two years at Cedar Junior High. According Ac-cording to Nelda Fiack, food service director, it is not anticipated that an additional position in food services will be necessary. It is anticipated that the shift of students to the Enoch Elementary will relieve some pressure on the three Cedar City elementary schools. In other action the board accepted the resignation of James Dunaway as band director at Cedar Junior High and further accepted the request by Larry Wright to move from Cedar High School to fill the Junior High position. As the result of that action the board authorized that ad-vertisemerntsfora ad-vertisemerntsfora new band director at Cedar High School be initiated. In other action the board approved that a call for bids be issued to provide for the supplying of oil, coal, milk and garage services for the 1979-80 1979-80 year. Meeting with the board was a delegation from the Enoch Elementary with concerns about the development of that facility. Reed Gower, contractor, also met with the board and indicated that he anticipated an-ticipated that classroom units would probably be ready for occupancy by the beginning of the school year but that "the kitchen facilities probably will not be completed. Also meeting with the board was a delegation from Hey Cedar's Square Dance Club concerns cost structures for building utilization. They requested a cost factor for energy and custodial services for the building to determine if the boards fees were in line with actual costs. They also requested that the lessons, usually offered by the Club, be instructed into the Adult Education program so that some of the cost factors could be redueed. Waivers The commission waivered two requirements on preliminary subdivision sub-division plats for Philip Leslie representing Southwestern Realty for a subdivision planned in the valley. The first waiver concerned the scale of the preliminary plat which uses one inch for 500 feet instead of best for all concerned and urged that the contract do all that was possible to have as much of the building ready for the school opening. The PTA representatives also requested that a hazardous route be declared by the board for the bussing of students from what is known as "Grimshawville" to the school until a bike path could be constructed.
