Show Jay Halladay holds Art Exhibit The artistic works of Alan Jay Halladay, June graduate of Southern Utah State College, will be exhibited here June 17 July 17. On display at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery, SUSC Old Administration Building, will be a number of prints, naturalistic and abstract paintings and watercolors created by the SUSC graduate in art education. The wide variety of subjects and media used exemplifies Halladay 's belief that "an artist must be versatile, striving for; new and unique ways of handling his media.". "We live in a world of art; it is sad that some people are not aware of the importance it plays in their lives," the 1968 graduate of Provo High School said. Halladay was named the Outstanding Art Student for the 1975-76 school year at SUSC. He was an exhibitor in the 35th Annual Cedar City National Art Exhibit and Special Bicentennial Sculpture Exhibition held earlier this spring at SUSC. "An artist is an historian," Halladay explains. "He creates under the influence of the culturearound him. Therefore he acts as a journalist. A study of art lets one realize how true this is." . "As an artist I feel a responsibility respon-sibility to those who' see my work. I must give them quality work, well thought out in the creative process," the artist said. Exhibited concurrently with Halladay's works will be a ceramics and textiles exhibit featureing the recent works of SUSC faculty members Mary M. MacDonald and Carmen C. Jones. Halladay is the son of Mr! and Mrs. Mack Halladay, 1055. West Center, Provo. He and his wife, the former Pat Larsen of Provo, have a daughter Amy. The SUSC graduate will teach art at Manti High School next year. EXHIBIT. Alan Halladay, SUSC graduate, will be featured in a June 17 - July 17 show at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery at SUSC. |
