Show Symphony Orchestra-Tabernacle Choir present historical Concert Friday The historical blending of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the LDS Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert, to be staged Friday evening at the newly constructed outdoor amphitheatre am-phitheatre near Zion Park is a complete sell-out, officials report. The concert will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. at the amphitheatre located one-half mile south of the south entrance to Zion National Park. "It is very important that persons be on time for the con-" cert," Ferron C. Losee, event chairman, said. "Special introductory remarks will be made at 6: 15 p.m. with the actual performance beginning promptly at 6:30 p.m.," the Dixie College President said. The location of the amphitheatre am-phitheatre will be well marked. A shuttle-bus will be available to take concert-goers from the parking lot, located by the Springdale Community Center, to the theatre located about a mile away. "It is also important that persons have their tickets available for inspection when they leave the main highway and enter the concert area," Losee said. " The special bicentennial event, featuring the combined musical groups for the first time in southern Utah, was sold out immediately after tickets went on sale. Some 2,500 persons are expected ex-pected to attend the concert which is being televised, for , national viewing, by KUED. President Losee reports that there will be no more standing room tickets sold due to possible danger from falling rocks in the mountainous area. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be housed in St. George; Utah Symphony members will stay in Springdale. Special activities ac-tivities for the visiting musical groups will be sponosred by Dixie College and several Washington County organizations. All auxiliary services including in-cluding health, sanitation, concessions and law enforcement en-forcement assistance have been well taken care of, Losee said. "We are doing everything possible to make this one of the nation's outstanding bicentennial , events," he said. |
