Show Clark, Kearns Basketball Coach PAROWAN - Kenyon Clark, former Parowan resident, ten year assistant coach at Kearns High has been named Head Basketball coach at Ihe school. Clark's choice is expected to he a popular one in the community where many felt he shorn! not have been overlooked a year ago when John Wood stepped down. Clark has been at Ihe school for 10 years, plus spending the 1971 and '72 seasons at Kearns Junior High where he coached the school's learn to it's only Granite District title. In mid-1972, he returned lo - Kearns High and has coached the Tennis teams as well as assisting with basketball. Clark played his High School Basketball for John Wood at Parowan and was an All-Slater. Lettering in basketball, football, tennis and baseball. He was also an all-region football selection. He obtained his education at the College of Southern- Utah... low ;SySC,plarying;:, basketball there two- years. -Clark also received training at the University of Utah and attended a short term course taught bv John Wooden of UCLA. At Kearns High, he teaches physical education and biology courses. May 1. 1979 he was appointed Head of the Physical Education Department. Coach Clark said he will run a disciplined fast break ' offense and will concentrate on developing the defensive skills of his players. Two starters return to the Courgar team this year. The new Kearns Coach resides in Granger with his wife, the former Marcia George of Beaver. They have two children. Necia 13, who was just elected Head Cheerleader at Kennedy Junior High and Brady 10, fourth grader at Farnsworth Elementary. Kenyon is the son of Saunders and Kathleen Clark of Parowan. |
