HOIE-IN-ONE One of the highlights of the Two Man Best Ball tournaments tour-naments held at the Painted Hills Course in Cedar City Saturday was a hole-in-one scored by Max Wood of Cedar City. The Hole-in-one came during the first round of the tournament action on Hole No. 7. Wood, a veteran of Cedar City golfing, scored the Hole-in-one on the 195 yard par 3 with a three iron. Witnesses to the Hole-in-one were Weldon Jensen, Claude Slack and Winn Seegmiller. According to Gale Parcell, golf pro at the Cedar City course, it is the second hole-in-one in the young golfing season. "It had to be the most successful golf tournament' in Cedar City's history," commented Gale Parcell golf pro at the Painted Hills' Golf Course after the completion of the third annual Two-man Best Ball Tournament held at Painted Hills. "It is the first time in the history of the course that a tournament has been filled up," Parcell stated. A total of 65 two-man teams participated in the 18 hole tournament competition com-petition with entries from as far away as California, Reno, Nev., Las Vegas, Nev., Price, Layton and many points in between. Walking off with top honors in the tournament were John McArthur and Gary Esplin of St. George. The young twosome posted a gross score of 65 over the 18 holes of play. Capturing first place honors were Darrell Cox and Bryant Sherwood of Milford with an impressive 59 '.fc. "We awarded prizes for the top ten places in both gross and net competition," Parcell said. Gross Winners In the gross competition two teams tied for second place honors with scores of 67. The team of Mike Jorgenson and McIIumell of Richfield and the team of LennieOlafson of Cedar City and Neil Jenkins of Bountiful shared the honors. There was also a tie for fourth and fifth place honors. Kevin Averett and Fred Wright, Jr. of Cedar City and a team from Provo, Steve Thomas and Dave Boorman both came in with 68s. Other finishers were as follows: Sixth: Tom Higbee and Winn Young, Salt Lake City, 69. Tied for seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth were: Scott Stevens and Neil Stevens, Salt Lake City; Brent McKinnely and Doug Randy, Richfield; Randy Peterson and Corry Robinson, California and Kirt Hobson and Bob Oldroyd, Richfield. Net Winners Second place finishers in the net competition were Dennis Wood and Paul Harker of St. George posting a round of 60' 2. Third place honors went to Jim Delamare and John Southern of Salt Lake City who came in with a 61. Other finishers in the net competition were as follows: Fourth: Kent Carlson and Jim Hale, Cedar City 61'.. Fifth: Reed Bowman and Roger Hillyard, Cedar City, 62.
