The 1976 graduate of Cedar High School is the daughter of Mrs. JoAnne Sawyer. Outstanding Contribution in Lighting and Sound-Jack Bartholomew for his sound work for "An Evening With Samuel Beckett." The SUSC senior is the son of Mrs. Mary Coleman, Anaheim, Calif. He will graduate with honors this week with a BA in theater arts. Outstanding Contribution in Costumes-Elaine Kelbch lor "Ah, Wilderness!" a play in which she also appeared as the mother. She received the same award last year for her work with "A Doll's 4 House" and "Scandles". Kelbch is a senior at SUSC. The 1974 graduate of Granger High School is the daughter of Mrs. Lucille R. Kelbch, Salt Lake City. Outstanding Contribution in Scenery and Paint-jointly awarded to scenic designers Mark Baird for "Stop the .a World I Want to Get Off" and to Peter Cook for "Rashomon." Baird received the same departmental award last year for his set for "Shenandoah." The SUSC junior is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Baird and is a 1975 graduate of Box Elder High School. Cook will graduate from SUSC in August and will attend Penn State University Univer-sity next fall where his sister, Frances, is also attending graduate school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cook, Hamilton, New Zealand. Keri Muir A student from Brigham City has been recognized for overall contribution and achievement in theater arts at Southern Utah State College. Ken Cook, a senior theater major who will graduate with honors June 1, received the coveted Overall . Achievement award at a recent theater awards banquet. Several other outstanding students in the SUSC theater program were also honored. Cook has worked in all aspects of theater at SUSC, placing primary emphasis on acting. This year he appeared as Renfield in "Dracula" and in "An Evening With Samuel Beckett, "for which he received a nomination as best actor for his part in "Theater II". He also worked as the acting coach for "Ah Wilderness!" and as the assistant director and fight master for "Rashomon." While at SUSC, Cook has appeared in several productions, playing major roles in "A Doll's House," "Jacques Brel is Alive and Living in Paris," and "Shenandoah. Cook received the SUSC theater award for Outstanding Out-standing Contribution, Senior Divison, last year. He is the son of Mrs. Betty M. Cook and the late Joseph i H. Cook, Brigham City, and is a 1975 graduate of Box Elder High School. AT the annual SUSC theater awards banquet, the 1979-80 theater season was announced. Fred C. Adams will direct the musical ''working'' and Shakespeare's "As You Like It." Gary Mclntyre will direct "Dial M for Murder." Other season productions will include a Pioneer State Theater Foundaiton produciton of "The Show Off", and a children's play, "Androcles and the Lion," co-sponsored by the theater department and SUSC's Peanut Butter Players, directed by Sandra Stiglinski. During the program Keri Muir, Provo, was cited for Outstanding Achievement in Theater Arts, an award never before awarded by the department. The SUSC Ken Cook senior was cited for "exceptional "ex-ceptional achievement in all aspects of theater and as well in her other scholastic endeavors." She will graduate June 1 with high honors, being named the Distinguished Scholar, School of Arts and Letters. Next year's scholarship recipients were also announced. an-nounced. They include Rick Dominquez, Las Vegas; Jennifer Riggs, Riverton; Linda Nelson, Ogden; Robin Stepp, Pason; Marc Deaton, Elko, Nevada; Mark Baird, Hurricane; and Ted Woolston and Cyndi Sawyer, Cedar City. Other outstanding contribution con-tribution and achievement awards for the 1978-79 theater season include: Best Actress--Becke Wilenski for her role as Evie in "Stop The World I Want to Get Off," a production in which she also played three other roles. Wilenski, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jarry J. Wilenski, Salt Lake City, is a 1975 graduate of Granger High School. She will graduate from SUSC with honors this week and will attend either Penn State or the University of Wisonsin, Madison, this fall. Best Actor-Ernest H. Bruss III for his performance per-formance as "Dracula." Bruss was named SUSC's best actor last year also for performances in "Tovarich" i and "The Real Inspector Hound." The 1975 graduate of Farmington High School is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bruss, Jr., Albuquerque, New Mexico. He will graduate with high honors from SUSC June 1 and will attend the Oslow Theater, an extension of Florida State University, next fall. Outstanding Contribution, Lower Division-Sherrie Lee Hunt, a freshman from Salt Lake City. She appeared as Nina in "Dracula", as Nora in "Ah, Wilderness!" and is a member of SUSC's Peanut Butter Players. She also worked on several technical crews this year. Hunt is the daughter of Mrs. Kay H. Nielson and is a 1978 graduate of Brighton High School. Outstanding Contribution, Upper Division-Cyndi Sawyer, a junior from Cedar |
