South all-stars wallop north team in annual baseball encounter The Class B South All-Star baseball team, under the- direction dir-ection of Coach Richard Hobbs of Cedar City, pickied up a 14-3 victory over the north in the third annual All-Stare game held at St. George Saturday evening. It was the third consecutive victory for tine south, but the 14-3 shellacking was far and away the most one-sided victory vic-tory in the history of the event. Three merrtbers of the Cedar Ce-dar High School Region Eight championshp team wera members of the all-star team and all three garnered starting start-ing berths in the game. Lewis Chamberlain got the call at second ibase, Tim Helms was the starting shortstop short-stop and one of the outstanding outstand-ing performers and Lynn Hatch was the starting right fielder. Bruce Curtis of Delta High School, starting pitcher for the South who shut out the North team in thre? innings of hurl-ing hurl-ing captured the most valu-' valu-' able player award for the south while starting pitcher for the Nortr, Ned Peterson of Morgan, was voted the most valuable player for the north. Helms saw action at third in addition to shortstop and pitched the final inning of the nine-inning affair. |
