Show Reservoir Company aleviates water problem of Brian Head Co. That the owners of the water wa-ter which raises in Bear Flat, 1 are coming to the realization that that water is more val-i val-i uable to the Brian Head Co. as a means of enlarging that operation, than it is to help grow crops in the valley and by a part of the Parowan City culinary water supply, was progable brought to the surface sur-face at the regular meeting of the city council on Mon- day evening, according to Dennis Lowdcr, city recorder. Appearing at the meeting j to confer with the members of the council, were Hal S. Mitchell, president of the Yankee Reservoir Company, in which the water rights in Parowan drainage area are vested, with Parowan City as party in the company., along with other members of the company board. Also on hand were Don Van Sickle, Terry Martin and Ed Thomson, representing the Brian Head Corp., who came expressly to inform the local water holders that they wanted want-ed and needed water if the corporation was to grow as is planned. And all present were in agreement with them., that if that area is to grow and progress it must have the water, wa-ter, and it was all agreed that they were going to get it anyway, any-way, in one way or another. Another thing that was shovyn -at the meeting was that the Parowan City irrigation irriga-tion and culinary water are more or less held together, on paper. Also that when the reservoir res-ervoir company sold water to Brian Head Corp. before, the reservoir company, furnished it all, also on paper. At the Monday night meeting the council decided that the irrigation irri-gation and culinary water be separated, so that in the future fu-ture any sales of said water made will share proportionately proportion-ately on paper at least. As a result of a two-hour discussion the reservoir company com-pany will now file a change of use with the State Engineer Engi-neer and will then negotiate with Brian Head owners in the sale of the water. Thus, it would seem that the Brian Head Corp, will eventually ; come up with the water which 'raises in Bear Flat for use in its enlarging operations. Other matters of business coming before the council on Monday night, was announcement announce-ment that city workers are I now pushing construction of a power line to the site of the new culinary water well in the mouth of the canyon, with Wesley Blake, electricion assisting in the work to get the electric power to the site jby the time the new pump, 'motor, switchboard and other equipment arrives for installation, instal-lation, j . City" officials "'art' hopeful that this will culminate this week or early next so that the water from the well can be used to alleviate the serious serio-us water shortage which has been on us for the past month. Announcement was made that word has come to the city ci-ty office that the State Aeronautics Aero-nautics Board, will furnish the extra $1,000 needed to bring the amount of funds available to the contract price for the oiling of the runway at the municipal airport. Nevada Rock arid "Sand was low bidder bid-der on the project and was to start work Monday, or as soon as the money was forthcoming. forthcom-ing. At any rate the oiling is to be done before mid-September, we understand. Jay Moore appeared at the meeting to request that property pro-perty which he owns west of 600 Street west of the city, (West of the Hyatt Dairy) be incorporated into the city. He stated that he is planning to operate a "trailer estate" on the property, which we understand under-stand is to sell trailer plots for trailer use.. He was informed infor-med that is this is done, he will have to conform to the Parowan City "subdivision ordinance. or-dinance. There will also be other problems such as extending ex-tending city utilities to the land in question. Frank Richardson appeared before the council to determine deter-mine by the city minutes that he held an easement through property which he sold to the city for use as a parking area at the race track; and this was found to be so. Richardson Richard-son owns a plot of land lying east of the Hyatt Bentley home and south of the parking park-ing lot. It Is on this land that he is- planning to build and operate a toy factory, as a part of other business he has in mind, and be wanted to be sure if he still held access rights to the land. |
