Show Original folio of Shakespeare's work on display at SUSC An original folio of William Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" published in 1623 is on display in the foyer of the Southern Utah State College Library with a 1608 quarto of "King Lear" and some 30 photographs pho-tographs and prints of Shakespeare momentos. Hours for viewing the exhibit are 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m., it was onnounced by A. T. Chal-lis, Chal-lis, SUSC librarian. The display is part of the traveling exhibit made available avail-able through the Folger Shakespearean Library in Washington, D. C. The library, ' adjacent to the Library of Con-gress, Con-gress, was established early in this century by Henry Clay Folger, first president of Standard Oil Company of Now York. Mr. Folger amassed the largest collection of Shakespearean Shakes-pearean material in the world prior to his death in 1930. Featured in the display is a 1796 playbill from the Royal Theater in Drury Lane marking mark-ing a production of October 10 of that year of "MacBeth." Also Al-so shown are copies of all the famous drawing and paintings of William Shakospeahe, as well as photographs of his Glohe Theatre in London, Eng. land. The SUSC exhibit has been timed to coincide with the ninth annual Shakespearean Festival which closes Saturday evening. |
