Show Third Ward wins Parowan Stake softhall crown: meets Minersville in region meet In the second round of the Parowan Stake softball play-1 off Saturday evening, the First Ward team won to even up the series and send the playoff play-off into the third and final game. This third game was then set for Tuesday night and in this game the Third Ward won to gain a place in the Regional tournament to be played this week end Both the First and Third Ward teams used makeshift lineups in the Saturday content con-tent in slow pitch play, but the First Warders put together togeth-er two big innings to win by a 9 to 7 score to tie up the series. In Tuesday night's game the First Ward got four runs in the first inning to take a lead. Third ward got two in the second and five in the third while holding their opponents scoreless until the sixth inning. in-ning. The First Ward got two runs in the 6th and two more in the seventh, with the Third getting one in that inning to tie the score. This sent the game into ex tra innings. Each got runs in the eighth then Third had a big ninth, scoring four times, with Robby Robb's home run with one on being the big blow. The First Ward came up with one run in its half of the ninth with Third winning win-ning by a 13 to 10 score. The win puts the Third in the Cedar Division playoff to be held at Beaver Friday and Saturday nights. The Parowan team will meet the Beaver Stake entry, Minersville, at 9 p. m the opening night. Members of the team are Dennis Lowder, Wayne Her-mansen, Her-mansen, Neil O'Brien, Gale Stolk, Duano Lamoreaux, Rodney Rod-ney Eentley, Dewey Topham, Roy Benson, Ken Topham, Roger Gurr, Kobby Robb and Lowell Caldwell. |
