Show Council Defers fiction On Power Rate Reduction. Culinary Vell Bid At the regular meeting of the Parowan City Council on Monday evening at the city office, a varied calendar of business matters came before the council for action in one way or another, according to Ralph Orton, mayor. Bids were opened and stud-died stud-died by the council for the drilling of an artesian well to supply additional water for the city's culinary system. A permit has been on hand for such a well for some time and the bid call was issued recently. Following much dis-cussion dis-cussion it was decided by the council that there are several questions on the project that should be discussed with Ralph B. Piatt, engineer. The tentative location of the well is on city-owned land on the southeast corner of the city near the Mitchell sawmill saw-mill setting, we understand. Another project to get the race track facilities ready for the coming race meet, is needed need-ed repairs to the section of bleachers on the west end of the grandstand and councilman council-man Morris Rasmussen was instucted to see that this work was done before the Fair date. Council Charles Burton informed in-formed the other members of the conditions at the city dump ground and that he was endeavoring to obtain the services ser-vices of a bulldozer to push the accumulation of trash at that place, back to make more room for future dumpings. The matter of Installing a steel diversion gate to divert the winter water Into the old hollow channel at a point north of where it leaves the H.E. power plant, was discussed discus-sed and councilman Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen was instructed to go ahead with plans to install the gate by the time it is needed. Justice of the Peace W. F. Burns was authorized to go to a traffic violators control school in Salt Lake City, to be financed by a 50 contri-ution contri-ution from Parowan City and Iron County. Mayor Ralph Orton, with a delegation met with the Iron County Commission at its meeting on Monday to ask for financial help to improve the runway at the Parowan municipal muni-cipal airport, but no definite reply was given by the county board. |
