Show School Board Makes Preparations For Opening of '67-'68 School Year Superintendent Joe Reidhead reported to members of the Iron County School Board Monday that all staff positions posi-tions for the coming school year have boon filled and that plans for the opening have ooen completed. Teacher institutes will got underway, during the coming week with school doors to open op-en to approximately 3000 students stu-dents in the District on Monday, Mon-day, Aug. 28, he said. The Board also toured the old Cedar High School building, build-ing, now a part of the Junior High facility whore the top floor has been renovated for a special social science program being undertaken by the staff. In addition they visited the newly created offices of the Southwest Media Center, of which the District is a part, located in the College of Southern South-ern Utah Adiministrative budding on 1500 West street. The board, in formal action, approved the oiling to the curb on the east side of Cedar High School campus in con nection with the city's street oiling program which includes 300 West street. The district also began ground work on the application applica-tion of Education Development federal funds for multiple district use. The funds are being be-ing made available for cooperative coop-erative district efforts in the southern Utah area such as purchasing, such programs as the Southwest Media Center and others. The program would be headquartered in Iron County. Council meetings will be held in each of the participating participat-ing districts to determine objectives ob-jectives and outline programs for the project, it Is understood. under-stood. Bids for the supplying of milk for the school lunch program pro-gram were opened and Arden Meadow Gold Dairy was awarded the contract for the coming year. Two bids were received, both for 6 2-10 cents per half pint. Arden's, however, also included straws in their bid and it was accepted on that basis. New lunch room agreements agree-ments were also signed by the board for the 1967-68 school year, indicating that there would be no discrimination in the supplying of lunches in conformity with standards set up by the federal government in funding for school lunch programs. |
