Show Educators to Attend Fifteenth Annual Education Confab at CSU Representatives from schools in eleven southern Utah districts dis-tricts and three Nevada districts dis-tricts will attend the 15th annual an-nual Education Conference to be held at College of Southern Utah Feb. 16 and 17. Guest consultant will he Dr. Deborah P. Wolfe, professor of education educa-tion at Queens College of the City University of New York and chairman of the Teacher Education Committee of the Commission of Science Education Educa-tion for the American Association Asso-ciation for the Advancement of Science. Theme for the conference is "New Trends in' Science Education Edu-cation in Public Schools." At the opening session held in the CSU Music Center Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:15 p. m., Dr. Wolfe will speak on the theme subject. sub-ject. On Saturday, Feb. 17, she will speak on "Science, a Process Approach," at the 8:30 a. m. session. The conference will begin at 5 p. m. on Feb, 16 with registration regis-tration in the CSU Student Center. A buffet dinner in the large ballroom of the Student Stu-dent Center will be served from 5:30 to 7 p. m. Feb. 17 meetings will include in-clude group activities at 11 a. m. and a closing session at 2 p. m. School districts participating in the conference are Washington, Wash-ington, Millard, Iron, Beaver, North Sanpete, South Sanpete, Garfield, Sevier, Wayne, Kane, Piute in Utah, and Virgin Val-ley, Val-ley, Moapa and Lincoln County Coun-ty Schools in Nevada. Chairman of the event is Dr. Gwyn Clark, head of the CSU elementary education program. pro-gram. Committee member; are Margery Twitchell, Rulan Woodbury, Eugene Holman, and Robert Moss, all faculty members in the CSU School of Education. They will be assisted by Dr. Morris Shirts, dean of the School of Education, Educa-tion, and Dr. Royden C. Braith-waite, Braith-waite, CSU president, as official of-ficial hosts. Conference sponsors are CSU, Southern Utah Supervisors, Utah Small Schools Improvement Improve-ment Project, with financial assistance from the American Association for the Advancement Advance-ment of Science. |
