Show Anita Cox Selected For U. P. Scholarship I Anita Cox, an Iron County 4-H Club member, from Hamilton Fort, is the winner of this year's Carl Raymond Gray scholarship awarded by the Union Pacjfie Raliroad. This scholarship of $100 Is awarded annually for an agricultural ag-ricultural or home economics course In any accredited state agricultural or home economics college to one boy or one girl 4-H Club member, who is a Junior Jun-ior or senior in high school or a graduate who has not been out of school more than one year and Is not enrolled in any college, col-lege, residing in counties served by the Union Pacific Railroad. This boy or girl must have com- r ,. - , ' - ' ANITA COZ pleted at least three years of satisfactory sat-isfactory club work. Anita is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Jim Cox of Hamilton Fort. She has completed eight years of 4-H Club work. Eight years in livestock, four years in sewing, two years in foods, and one year in gardening, also three years as a Junior leader and one year as a leader. She has been president, secr-tary, secr-tary, reporter and song leader of her club at various times. She has had special projects In health, home grounds beautifl-cation beautifl-cation and cannlne. ' Anita has won trips to the State Fair for two years and been a chairman of a committee for the county club camp for two years. She was chairman of the registration committee in 1953. and chairman of the handicraft committee in 1954. She was selected winner on the following basis: Fifty on project pro-ject work, story and records; 2 on scholastic standing, and 25 on character, interest, qualities or leadership, community and school activities. Audrey Armstrong of Enoch was selected as alternate for this scholarship. |
